Originally from the Adelaide Hills and later moving to Broome, Josh Windram spent years framing for his family’s art business before beginning his own painting career in his early 40s. Now working from his studios in Vasse and Nannup in Western Australia’s South West, Josh creates contemporary abstract landscapes primarily using acrylic on canvas. His intuitive pieces are inspired by the vastness of the Australian scenery rather than specific locations, featuring striking, straight horizon lines, rugged terrain, and dramatic skies shaped by contrasting and complementary colours. Music is central to his creative process, and every painting is titled after a song that was either playing during its creation or carries personal significance.
