About The Artist
‘This place is special, alive. People talk of falling in love, finding themselves here and never leaving, or do, but then find their way back. “Kimberley calling”. This too, is true of my experience. This body of work speaks of this calling, chronicling my connection with the Kimberley as it grows and strengthens.’
– Amelia Jajko
Amelia is quickly gaining momentum in her practice and artistic recognition. Her observational approach is a language that has grown from an intuitive response, seeking to relate a sense of light and spontaneity. Growing up in the South West of WA, Amelia now lives and works in Broome whilst retaining strong roots in the South.
Amelia is a 2021 Lester Prize finalist, & her award-winning works have become a symbol of her commitment to the community and Country she now feels a profound connection to.
