Peter’s paintings of spectacular, timeless and dramatic landscapes, are depicted in his vivid, colourful, and distinctive style. His landscapes express appreciation for the knowledge gained from the unique cultures of the many places he has travelled to and painted throughout the world. Each place has shaped his themes, colours, tones and textures.

He is inspired by the natural world’s beauty and moods, and the diverse elements that form the land. The wilderness is a world suspended in time, its slowly evolved ecology belonging to primitive man. “When I intrude, it makes me feel primal, clears my vision and offers me a fresh insight into nature’s voices”.

Alongside 79 solo and numerous group exhibitions in Australia and Overseas, Peter’s career has included many innovative projects. He has served two terms as the Vice President of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts, lectured on his art, been a participant, judge, advisor, and curator of exhibitions in Australia, Spain, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Los Angeles U.S.A, and had print releases in Australia, New York, and Korea.

His artistic journey has also seen him involved in several innovative events and projects, one being commissioned by internationally acclaimed Australian Film Director, Rolf de Heer, to paint 14 large canvases which appear as static scenes in the Award-Winning feature film, ‘The Tracker’ (2002) which was filmed in Arkaroola, Northern Flinders Ranges.  The inclusion of original artwork in this way was a first for an Australian feature film and Peter’s process to produce these paintings can be seen on a documentary made at the time.

For over 50 years Peter has enjoyed a successful career as a painter, during which time, he has portrayed the different characteristics of the landscape with unique sensibility. They combine realism with the contemporary and reveal to us the spiritual landscapes and colours of nature which we sometimes take for granted, but when you do experience them, there is complete recognition and association with what he has captured in his inspirational works.
