Located just north-east of Warmun Community, stands my Mothers country known as ‘Texas’. It is a very beautiful and sacred location, amongst waterholes, dreamtime places. The beautiful scenery of the hills are my favourite to look at. This painting is viewed from an ariel point of view or “birds eye view, as if your looking down on country from a top”. In my artwork, I wanted to portray the scenery of the hills & landscapes of Ngargaroon (Texas). These can be seen through the natural ochre pigments such as red, tones of green and yellow, outlining the hill like figures with traditional white dottings. On my mother’s country there is an abundance of bush tucker, jirriny (kangaroo), goanna and bush turkeys – they all can be found on this country. During long school holidays we would spend our time here out on country, camping, fishing, hunting swimming etc. With the whole family members together.
