Description
Ochre on Canvas
120 x 60cm
Located just north-east of Warmun Community, stands my Mothers country known as ‘Texas’.
It is a very beautiful and sacred location, amongst waterholes, dreamtime places. The beautiful scenery of the hills are my favorite to look at whenever i am out on country.
In my artwork, I wanted to portray the scenery of the hills & landscapes as well as the many beautiful waterholes that are located throughout Ngargaroon (Texas). These can be seen through the natural ochre pigments sich as pink, green, red, yellow & dark grey..
Located at the bottom of my artwork i have described flat slate rocks, that takes on the form of rectangular/squares and triangular shapes seen here – described in many broad rich ochre colours, as well as the sand’s ground on which it lays scattered upon. “When i was smaller, playing with these slate rocks while being out on country i recall being happily content. I would play four hours making what we would call “Flinn Stone houses” out of the many flat slates of rocks.
The earthly colours of yellow and brown shades describes the ground of which the beautiful rugged hills and waterholes lays on, and where i would walk alongside my elders, throughout the land of my mothers country Ngargaroon Texas.
