A resident of the Kimberley for a decade, Jeanette painted daily at the Red Rock Art Gallery in a cultural exchange studio environment sharing Kimberley ochres with Indigenous Artists. Jeanette’s works portray and celebrate the uniqueness of the Australian north, the spatial isolation and texture of the landscape in a contemporary interpretation.
Jeanette Dyson was born in South Australia in 1949, and came to Perth as a small child. She attained her Diploma of Art Studies at Forrestfield Technical college, receiving awards in the final year of painting and studio ceramics. Jeanette has also taken several workshops and courses, TAFE, grant sponsored residency and school workshops. Jeanette was Vice President of the Kununurra Arts Council, created and managed two Kununurra art galleries, was resident Artist at Kununurra District High School, teaching at Kimberley College of TAFE and private tuition.
Jeanette is a multi-award winning artist, with both oil and watercolour paintings, and her artwork is included in many private and Government collections.
Her love of the Western Australian landscape is apparent through her work; capturing the unique colours and textures, using a variety of techniques in acrylic, Kimberley ochre, pearl dust and gold dust. This has made her aware of all the influences that have formed her own identity, specifically that of the Kimberley, Pilbara and the Northern Territory, Kakadu.
